I want..

,
to be in the cab that takes me home everyday .. its raining and its 6:15 PM , the Hebbal flyover is milling with people who use plastic covers as head-gear.. and I hear familiar sounds in the bus ; of my cab mates playing dumb charades and fighting over whether the movie they're miming actually exists .. theres "Madhura pisumathigee " playing over the FM.. i see Girl1 and Guy2 exchanging glances when their favorite songs playing .. i hear Amma calling me asking me what I'd like to have for dinner .. I eye my favorite road near Hotel Ashoka .. i peek out to see if anything interesting is on at CKP...I wish... I were home...

But I'm not ! And hence I'm planning a trip to NY tomorrow!

Jai Ho! Carpe Diem!

;) what did u think?

Friday

,
I love fridays , ever since I've joined mera company strongesht. My manager has been working from his hometown for the past month and nothing could be more blissful than a cloudy Friday morning although I was actually getting to work.So there I was chugging and humming along and what do I see? The turning that leads to my campus is being blocked by the police.
Poleeceman: 'Munde Hogu' --Sail forth
Seren:'My company is on this road , what do you mean munde hogu'
P: 'Kannada balaralwa? Goings goings goooooings'
So I goed.

I go
ed a little more and the story repeated. And the next. And the next.

Oh goodie , I'm allowed to make a turn now ... ok ..no U turn? ....only right turn ?Now I'm inside the HAL airport? Err? EH?

We're made to stop inside the HAL airport where 3 gazillion cars and scooters are all lined up.With their ignition off , and that is a terrible sign.

The first person to respond was Mr.Goatie beard in an auto behind me.
Goatie Beard to Me: 'What's happening ?'
I tried to loo
k my sarcastic best , rather unsuccessfully from behind a scarf and a helmet before turning away.
Goatie Beard to Bike guy next to mine: 'What's happening ?'
Bike Guy: *Politely* ' No idea , dude'

GB to BG:'Are you in the same campus as I am?'
Ser
en: *Rolling her eyes inside the baking scarf and helmet*
BG: 'Yes , com
e hop in , I'll drop ya!'
The scene that ensued was hilarious!
GB to auto driver: ' I will get down here'
AD: ' Saar , you are the reason why I'm stuck here saar , else I would have got better sawaari(auto rider) , and now you are the putting ditch'
GB:' I will give you 5Rs extra'
AD:' Saar beedi(
a thin, often flavored, South Asian cigarette :D
) also not comes saar for 5Rs'
GB:' Its 5 or nothing'

Cut to scene #2.
GB sitting be
hind BG
AD glaring at GB
GB pretending AD doesn't exist.

By this time , bike guy in front got hysterical.

'Seems there's a VIP coming because of which we're being cooped here!
Some
more yells from bikers around
'We pay taxes
, we're office goers , why can't the VIP come night $%$%$'

I reached office around 11 only to find out that a team lunch was being organized to 'Jalsa'. I kept thinking the name sounded awfully familiar when I realised it happens to be the name of AB's house! Its a mughlai themed restaurant which resembles a set from Jodha Akbar! It even had a huge movie screen playing songs from Umrao jan and JA..

<----These are the couple seats!

Any guesses as to what this could be --> ??
The plate!

<---A
cool looking goblet

Reached office by 3.30Pm , had coffee at 4:30 , set out homewards 5:30 PM!
Yesterday.
Blissful!

20 March 2008

This day , that day

,
Circa 1996

I belonged to a dance troupe called 'Drishti' , called so simply because it had the starting letters of everybody in the troupe.
There was a dance competition(amongst many others) that was being held at the Gymkhana at IISC.Then , IISC to me was just a painfully far away dance venue. It was the perfect day to bunk classes , get toasty inside a blanket and read a book.Instead, I was dressed in a light blue Lavani Saree and sitting in an auto to get to IISC. Make up et all. With a shawl covering whatever the Lavani saree didnt. And that, was saying quite a lot.
Picture this.Bangalore torrential rains , a short girl in a weird electric blue (which D had ensured was a lovely peacock blue) attire, sporting fake jasmine flowers(they're light on the head and pass off beautifully for the real ones) around an enormous fake hair bun and with a face that resembled Chandramukhi (the only difference being , it didn't go 'Ra Ra..').You'd think the horror show would end there. No it didn't.When the apparition got down from the auto in front of IISC , it had blue coloured rain water dripping at its feet, the bun had taken a walk sideways(much like Narada's) , and the face looked more like Chandramakhi now than ever.
Anyway , coming back to the purpose of the post , our group was asked to be seated in the front rows to await our turn.A singing competition was going on.It was then that I saw him.Err , didn't I mention it? That HE was the purpose of this long winded post?Tch Tch,well , now you know.
He strode over to the mike and began singing "Rim Jhim Gire Saawan .." from the Amitabh starrer Manzil. All of 6 feet , tall dark and handsome. Not Amitabh , HIM.And he also sang like no man's business.
It was our turn to perform. The stage was in darkness , we took our positions and the lights came on.The familiar song started playing. And my bun fell.IT FELL.In front of thousands of hooting hooligans. Most importantly , in front of HIM.I composed myself as the rest of Dhrishti cast worried glances at me , wondering if they should stop dancing or if I would stop yanking at my hair first.I did.I bunched up my hair into a high rise pony , and danced.Albeit shakily.
Today , on my way to work , I remembered all this.Because the morning looked cloudy and romantic , and there was 'Kabhie Kabhie mere dil mein' playing in my iPod.

PS: I wonder where he is now.Married?.A father?

Sigh.
